Jiayun Zhang is a Vancouver and Los Angeles-based filmmaker and screenwriter. 

 

Born and raised in Shanghai, Jiayun aims to tell stories that bring us together – exploring multiculturalism, AAPI identity and womanhood through an artistic and stylised lens. Her work has been recognised by Academy Award qualifying festivals, including Austin Film Festival and Los Angeles's HollyShorts film festival. Her most recent script "Starman" was selected as 1 of 4 screenplays (out of 90 total submissions) to be made as a USC thesis film with a $12,600 budget. Aside from narrative film, her other visual interests include editorial and experimental media, which she explores through USC's Haute Magazine.
